&nbsp; The North Platte Police Department is participating in a Speed Enforcement Campaign funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), Highway Safety Office from July 5th through July 13th. 2022 National Highway Safety Administration statistics indicated that 12,251 people were killed in speeding related accidents. 

Consequences of excessive speed include: Greater potential for loss of vehicle control, Increased stopping distance, Increase in the severity of the crash &amp; reduced effectiveness of occupant protection equipment.
