Ivan Abraham Armstrong, aged 89, passed away on December 21, 2023, in Ogallala, Nebraska.

He was born on January 25, 1934, in Roscoe, NE, to George and Ruth (Walker) Armstrong. Ivan attended Ogallala High School and later pursued higher education at Doane College. 

Ivan married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Lou Skinner, on August 7, 1955. Ivan was a devoted husband to Wanda Lou, a loving father to his children, and a wonderful grandfather.

Ivan was known for his honesty, hard work, trustworthiness, compassion, and caring nature. He led a remarkable life, filled with various accomplishments and roles. Ivan began working at the family gas station and sporting goods store at a very young age. He also served the community as the Keith County Sheriff for two terms and as a Nebraska State Liquor Commissioner. Additionally, Ivan was involved in construction contracting, professional trapping, a hunting guide, and explosives expertise. His diverse career showcased his dedication and passion.

Fishing was his reel passion, especially when chasing those elusive Walleye. Ivan also enjoyed hunting and a daily dose of ice cream.

Ivan found solace in nature and his faith. He was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Ogallala. His spiritual connection provided him with strength and support throughout his life.

He was a proud 50-year member of the Masons of Nebraska.

Ivan was preceded in death by his daughter Jacque, his sister Patricia, brother Johnny, and son-in-law Rick Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lou, his son, Michael Scott (Nancy) of Ogallala, and daughter, Jill Adams (Chandler, AZ), his brothers, Michael of North Platte and Bill (Diane) of Ogallala, his grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Mallory, Elizabeth, and Katherine, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In honor of Ivan's memory, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Ogallala or a family memorial fund to be designated at a later time.

The Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala, NE, is entrusted with the arrangements and assisting the family during this difficult time.
