Pilot, passenger aboard the small plane crash in McCook have been identified

On October 30th, a single engine plane crashed in the yard of a residence in the 1400 Block of East C Street in McCook, Nebraska. There were two occupants aboard the plane. The occupants were identified as pilot, Clifton Coffman age 79, who passed away from his injuries, and his passenger, Henry Ritcher age 65, who is being treated for his injuries. NTSB and FAA are investigating the crash. Both occupants were from Shreveport, Louisiana.

RED WILLOW COUNTY, Neb. —One person died in a small plane crash just before noon Monday in southwest Nebraska.

The small plane crashed 1/8 of a mile southwest of the McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport property, according to McCook City Manager Nate Schneider. 

There were two occupants in the airplane. First responders found one deceased, and the second occupant was transported to the Community Hospital of McCook for treatment.

City of McCook personnel were on the scene of the crash and have contacted the appropriate federal agencies. 

Officials secured the crash site and it will be maintained until investigators from the appropriate federal agencies arrive.  Officials have not released names of the pilot or passenger.
