NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Antelope Road has been shut down between Hershey-Dickens and Parkway Road after recent rains caused significant washout, according to the Lincoln County Roads Department.

The Hershey Volunteer Fire Department is urging drivers to steer clear of the area, particularly Antelope Road East, due to unsafe conditions from the damage.

Officials have not provided an estimated timeline for when the road might reopen. The closure follows a string of weather-related road issues across the region, including Hidden Lakes Road, which also remains closed due to storm damage.

The roads department is reminding drivers to slow down and use caution when traveling in affected areas, and to report any additional damaged or flooded roads by calling 308-535-4008.

According to a trained spotter near Walker Road and Hershey-Dickens Road, the area saw approximately 2.5 inches of rainfall overnight. Over the past two days, the total rainfall in parts of Lincoln County has reached nearly 5 inches.
