Wanted man from California arrested in Ogallala

Ogallala, Neb. - On June 25, 2024, Ogallala Police Department were advised of a Be On the Lookout (BOLO)  for a White Toyota Prius with California plates associated with a male individual wanted for  homicide. Ogallala Police officers were notified that this individual was considered armed and  dangerous.

The car was located at Wal-Mart on Pony Express Lane but was unoccupied at the time.  In an effort to limit any potential incident inside Walmart, law enforcement, which also included  Keith County Sheriff’s office at this time, waited in the Scooter’s Coffee parking lot where they  could observe the Wal-Mart parking lot and the suspect car. The male suspect exited Wal-mart, got  into the car and began driving.

Law enforcement officers from the Ogallala Police Department and  the Keith County Sheriff’s Office immediately engaged the car and they were able to get the suspect  pulled over pulled over in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express, directly South of Wal-mart and  West of the Scooter’s Coffee location. 

At the same time, Nebraska State Patrol arrived and were able to place the individual in  handcuffs. The suspect has been identified as Arcenio Jose Fernandez Marquez who has an arrest  warrant for homicide from the Richmond Police Department out of Contra Costa County, California.  

Mr. Fernandez Marquez is currently being held in the Keith County Jail and it is anticipated  that he will be extradited to California.
