Sandra Elizabeth Nelson was born May 27, 1937, in Wray, Colorado to John and Hilda (Mahoney) Vibber and departed this life on April 29, 2024, at the South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, Nebraska. She was 86 years old.
Sandra was united in marriage to Bernard Nelson in Raton, New Mexico, on April 6, 1955. They had one child, Jerry Lee. They resided on the Nelson family farm for 66 years. During many of those years she worked side by side with her husband, farming, driving truck and tending to the cattle. In 2021, they sold the farm and moved to Imperial, Nebraska.
Sandra had many talents. She was a seamstress and made many of her own clothes. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild. Many of her beautiful quilted creations have been handed down to family. She in later years took up knitting and made many prayer shawls for those with illnesses. She also made many lap blankets and baby blankets for friends and family. She was a member and very active in the United Methodist Church.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; her son, Jerry; sisters Maxine Reckard and Dawala Hansen; and brothers, Larry Vibber and Jerry Vibber.
Survivors include: daughter-in-law, Debra Nelson (Randy) Crist of Ceresco, Nebraska; grandson, Zachary (Marian) Nelson of San Diego, California and granddaughter, Alyson Nelson of Wahoo, Nebraska; 3 great-grandchildren; Serenity Ray and Raelyn Nelson of Wahoo, Nebraska and Ilana Nelson of San Diego, California; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, May 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Imperial, Nebraska with Pastor Loy officiating. Inurnment followed at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Memorial, in Sandra’s Memory, has been suggested to the Donor’s Choice.
