Greg Worthing, son of the late Caleb and Mary Worthing, was born on January 21, 1940, in Kearney, Nebraska. Greg grew up in a close family of four brothers, one sister, and a set of parents, all of whom he loved dearly.

Greg graduated from Elm Creek Schools and was recruited by Coach Tom Osborne to play football for Hastings College but was drafted into the army and served his country faithfully from 1963 to 1965. In 1967 Greg married his high school sweetheart, Elaine, and together they shared 57 years of loving memories. In 1969, Greg and Elaine moved to Venango, Nebraska, to manage the Alfalfa Mill, and in 1970, they became parents to a son (John) who was the joy of their lives. Greg's family was the most important thing in his world. He loved his siblings, wife, and son and found contentment whenever he was in their presence.

In 1988, Greg joined with Fuzz Maupin and the Tines brothers (Chuck, Dude & Tom) of Venango to form the Western Nebraska Farm Corporation and spent more than twenty years embracing the challenges of farming on the western Nebraska plains.

In 2000, Greg became a Grandfather to Audrey and, soon after, to Alex and Mary Worthing. Greg loved cheering on his grandchildren and was so proud of all of their accomplishments and the young adults they grew to be.

Greg quietly departed from this life Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Scottsbluff Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb and Mary Worthing, sister, Helen Cruise, brothers, Daniel Worthing, Mathew Worthing, and David Worthing, brothers-in-law, Robert Harms, LaVern Johnson, sisters-in-law, Arlene Nelson (Dick), Ardella Harms and Helen Leach, mother and father-in-law Warren and Helen Leach.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Elaine of Venango, his son John (Staci) Worthing of Ogallala, brother Patrick (Blanche) Worthing of Roseburg OR, brother-in-law Dr. Dale Cruise of Salem OR, sisters-in-law, Berniece (Lon) Clark of Holdrege NE, Kathleen Harms of Kearney, NE, Peg Worthing of Omaha, NE, Sue Worthing of Kearney, NE, grandchildren, Audrey, Alexander, and Mary Worthing along with many other cherished relatives and friends.
