OGALLALA, Neb. — Multiple agencies are searching for a missing kayaker near Admirals Cove on Lake McConaughy.
The Keystone-Lemoyne Fire Department, Ogallala Fire Department, Lake McConaughy Dive Rescue, Nebraska Game and Parks, Keith County Sheriff’s Office, Keith County EMS, Brule and Paxton Fire Departments, and Great Plains Air were notified of the incident around 6:20 p.m. Sunday.
Search operations included boats equipped with sonar from Lake McConaughy Dive Rescue and Nebraska Game and Parks. The initial search concluded at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, and officials said operations are expected to resume Monday morning.
Authorities are urging lake visitors to avoid the search area to allow emergency personnel to work safely.
