The Post's Derek Beck chatted with Keith County Chamber Membership and Events Coordinator Tawny Craig about the Annual Keith County Holiday Craft Fair that is going on at the fairgrounds in Ogallala tomorrow.

OGALLALA - Keith County is gearing up for the Annual Keith County Holiday Craft Fair which is taking place tomorrow at the fairgrounds in Ogallala from 9:00am -12:00 pm (mountain time zone). Around 30 vendors will be participating at this years craft fair. During the craft fair, you can expect many one of a type gifts.

For shoppers who are still wanting to explore craft fairs after finishing the Keith County Holiday Craft Fair, just 20 miles down the road, Paxton will be hosting their craft fair as well. NORTH PLATTE - The Salvation Army is gearing up for the holiday season and the Red Kettle Campaign started this past Monday. The Salvation Army is also preparing food box donations for Thanksgiving and Christmas, a toy drive and so much more.&nbsp;

The Red Kettle campaign is the Salvations Army biggest fundraiser event. The iconic red kettles are seen all around the United States. The Red Kettles started in North Platte this past Monday. Volunteers stand out ringing the bells in front of the kettles. North Platte will be ringing at 8 locations this holiday season. Post Sports Director Paxton Gordon chatted with former Husker volleyball player, current Omaha Supernovas Team Ambassador/Assistant Director of Fan Engagement Kenzie Maloney about the Supernovas and her role with the organization.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Omaha Supernovas are the first ever professional volleyball team in the state of Nebraska and gearing up for their first season in a brand-new professional volleyball league, the Pro Volleyball Federation. The league consists of 8 teams and the league plays a 24-game regular season. Omaha will host 12 matches at the CHI Health Center. The league's first ever match will take place at CHI Health Center on January 24th, 2024, between the Supernovas and the Atlanta Vibe at 7pm.&nbsp;

Maloney is originally from Louisville, Kentucky and spent 4 years when the Nebraska Volleyball team. During her time in Nebraska, she was a two-time national champion with the Huskers. Maloney was a four-year standout at both Libro and Defensive Specialist. She was an AVCA All-America Third Team member after her senior season in 2018.&nbsp;

For the Supernovas, Maloney is the Assistant Director of Fan Engagement for the Supernovas but also one of three Team Ambassadors alongside former Husker, Kenzie Knuckles and former Creighton Bluejay,&nbsp; Jaela Zimmerman. As a Team Ambassador, Maloney puts it&nbsp;hand in hand with her current position of Assistant Director of Fan Engagement. "It's viewed as a fan engagement position, so we (team ambassadors) do a good job of spreading the word of the Pro Volleyball Federation and letting people know what it is, where they can find tickets, where they can get involved," said Kenzie Maloney.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Connection Homeless Shelter in North Platte is getting ready to wrap up the Out of the Box Challenge with the final presentations going on November 16th at Brigham's Taproom. Participants will be bringing their house to the Taproom at 5:00pm and guests can vote on which one is the best. During the evening event, there will be a big specials announcement made.&nbsp;

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Mid-Plains United Way's Haven Smith and Lora Ballard from the Nebraska Youth Center. Smith gives us an update of what's going on with Mid-Plains United Way while we learn from Ballard what the Nebraska Youth Center is.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Mid-Plains United Way campaign is officially underway for the 2023-2024 campaign year. The United Way is raising money to help support their partner agencies. The Nebraska Youth Center is one of many partners agencies that works with Mid-Plains United Way.&nbsp;

The Mid-Plains United Way has many upcoming events as we head into the holiday season. The events include:&nbsp;

The Nebraska Youth Center is to provide a safe environment for youths in crisis who can find acceptance in resolving issues. The center provides opportunities for these youth to positively change their behavioral patterns. The Nebraska Youth Center opened up its facility in North Platte in 2011.&nbsp;

Post News Director Canon Rath sat down with Axes &amp; Aces owners Lisa Citta and Brian Schimek and discussed the newest family fun/group entertainment attraction that is preparing to open in&nbsp;North Platte.

NORTH PLATTE - Axes &amp; Aces, the newest entertainment attraction coming to North Platte offers a family fun/group entertainment setting for everyone to enjoy. The new attraction will have golf simulators, axe throwing and pickle ball courts. The location also features a bar and will have a kitchen. As of now, the kitchen is not operational as parts to finish the kitchen will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

Axes &amp; Aces has hosted a few private events over the last few weeks with the North Platte Pickleball Club getting the chance to play on the brand new pickleball courts. During Halloween, Axes &amp; Aces hosted the Spooktacular Pickleball event which ended up being a 2-day event with how fast the first night filled up.&nbsp;

Axes &amp; Aces will be showing the Husker/Maryland game today at 11:00am and the bar is fully stocked and ready to go. The owners want to remind guests that there will be no food as the kitchen is still being worked on. Post Sports Director Paxton Gordon chatted with Prairie Arts Center Executive Holly Carlini about what's going on at the Prairie Arts Center.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - &nbsp;The Prairie Arts Center welcomed in North Platte native and Doane Professor Eric Stearn's Ra•ku poetry in the main exhibit and will be on displayed tell the end of the month. Stearn's was in North Platte last Friday for a reception on the opening night of the gallery. Carlini discuses what other gallery's are currently on displayed at the PAC. The 2023 Holiday Passport is quickly approaching and the PAC is one of 20 attractions on this years passport. The PAC also always offers classes.&nbsp;

The 2023 Holiday Passport is quickly approaching and the PAC is one of 20 attractions on this years passport. NORTH PLATTE - The Annual St. Patrick's Church Christmas Boutique show is going to be held this Saturday, Nov. 11th at the St. Patrick's Church in North Platte. The event runs from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Starting at 11:00 am, a homemade lunch will be served for $5. Lunch will only be served until 1:00pm. There will be live music and door prizes throughout the day. The event is free to attend.&nbsp;

There will be 30 local vendors selling goodies at the St. Patrick's Christmas Boutique show. As of now, there is still room for 3 more vendors. If interested in becoming a vendor at the show, you can call the church at 308-532-0942. North Platte, Neb - This Friday, November 10th, TD Angus at Rishel Ranch will hold a Female only cattle auction at their ranch south of North Platte. According to TD Angus' Trey Wasserburger they will sell over 200 register females, and another 800 plus commercial females.

 Wasserburger said he thinks "it could be the greatest conglomerate of commercial females in the nation this year", with a full sister of Doc Ryan, the $525,000 bull sold from TD Angus at Rishel Ranch, being sold at lot 1 to kick off the day-long sale Friday.&nbsp;

Derek Beck from Eagle Media spoke with Wasserburger in depth about the upcoming sale and also spoke about progress at the Sustainable Beef Plant in North Platte that is currently under construction. LISTEN BELOW.

The fight card features 16 fights with 14 local fighters. The 2023-2024 campaign helps support those agencies throughout the year. With the holidays coming up, there are plenty of events like Operation Christmas Card on Nov. 6th, Veteran's Day Parade Nov. 11th are just a few of many events going on during the holiday season.&nbsp;

Post News Director sat down with North Platte native and Doane University Professor Eric Stearns about his opening reception going on tonight at the Prairie Art Center of his latest ceramic work in a show titled Ra•ku.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - Eric Stearns returns to North Platte and tonight at the Prairie Art Center is his opening reception of his latest ceramic work titled Ra•ku. The event goes from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at the PAC and you can chat with Stearns at the event. Check out the latest pieces of art Stearns has done.&nbsp;

Raku is a method of quickly firing ceramic artwork. Eric removes the pieces from the kiln at 1450° F, when they're still red hot. The art is given about a minute or two to cool before placing it in a metal container with a few sheets of newspaper. The paper ignites and smokes then the container is closed.&nbsp;

The reduction atmosphere affects the glaze colors, and the smoke turns unglazed parts of the clay black. The drastic thermal shock also produces cracking in the glaze —known as crazing since it is deliberate. The piece is removed from the container once cool and cleaned up to remove residual soot and ash, revealing the brilliant glazes.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Prairie Arts Center always has many new and exciting exhibits/gallery's, classes and so much more going on. The Sheldon Exhibit, which is a traveling exhibit will be at the PAC tell the end of the month, also a Halloween exhibit, a special gallery will be set up for North Platte native Eric Sterns that will be open in early November and concerts.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Midwest Championship Fighting is returning to North Platte for their MCF 25: Salute To Veterans III fights November 11th at the D&amp;N Event Center. The fight card features 16 fights with 14 local fighters. Tickets are $30 and you can purchase tickets <a href="https://events.humanitix.com/mcf-25-salute-to-veterans-iii">here.</a> Doors open at 4:30pm with the flights scheduled for 6:00pm.&nbsp;

Scott is a North Platte native and graduated from NPHS in 2018. While in high school, Scott wrestled for the Bulldogs and finished as the state runner up in the 126-weight class in 2018. NORTH PLATTE - The Village of Sutherland is hosting an Economic Development Open House &amp; Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24th from 7:00pm-8:00pm at the Village of Sutherland Office. The event is open to the public and is a great time to learn about the economic program but also voice their concerns and ideas for growth for the community. It's also an opportunity to learn about the 3 Sutherland Economic Development Programs: Business Development Loan and Grant, Property Improvement Program Loan and Grant (Commercial and Residential) and Digital Marketing Grant.&nbsp;

The residents of Sutherland voted for LB840 in May of 2022 which is a collection of 1.5% sales tax. "It's an opportunity for businesses and citizens of Sutherland to learn about our economic development program and its brand new," said Muriel Clark. "We began collecting those funds in January of 2023, so we got about 6, 7 months of those collections coming into our coffers, and we are just wanting to let people know the funds we have and what is available to do with those funds."&nbsp;

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Marcus Taylor about the upcoming Trevin Jeffs &amp; Travis Roberts Benefit event this upcoming Saturday.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Trevin Jeffs and Travis Roberts Benefit will be taking place this Saturday from 12pm - 2pm at Budke Powersports in North Platte. The event is a chili feed and silent auction with a variety of auction items being donated from business around the community. The event is $10 per person. All proceeds will go to the families of Jeffs and Roberts.&nbsp;

Jeffs and Roberts were both injured in a motorcycle accident on Oct. 8th. Both riders sustained broken bones and other injuries. Jeffs and Roberts are a part of a group of riders here in North Platte and the idea of the benefit came during a discussion in the riders group chat. This will be one of several benefits for these gentlemen.&nbsp;

The two riders sustained severe injuries from the wreck and all proceeds collected at the benefit will go to the riders' families. "All the proceeds are going to be split evenly between the families to help cover these medical expenses and some of the expenses to get back and forth between here and Omaha where both of these gentlemen are currently recovering at," said Marcus Taylor.&nbsp;

Smith recaps the FNBO Chili Cook-Off and gives us a more in-depth looking into Mid-Plains United Way. Hipp talks about the mentoring program at the Community Connections&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Mid-Plains United Way kicked off their 2023-2024 campaign with the 28th Annual FNBO Chili Cook-Off. For this year's event, over 240 people attended and almost $4,000 was raised. The event this year raised $500 more than last year.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mid-Plains United Way supports 11 non-profits and serves in a 16-county region. "The non-profits provide services and programs that improve education and health and finical stability for people in need," said Mid-Plains United Way Executive Director Haven Smith.&nbsp;

One of these organizations that is supported by the Mid-Plains United Way is Community Connections of Lincoln County. Community Connections is a non-profit that matches youths with mentors. Many of the youths will be matched up with mentors that have very similar skill sets.&nbsp;

Teammates is another program that matches youth with mentors. However, Community Connections has a slightly different approach than Teammates. "Well just that, you know (Teammates) school based, there meeting at the school at a set time each week. There are kids who need maybe some mentoring outside of the school," said Mentoring Coordinator Angela Hipp. "We think the relationship can really flourish when they are able to go do that."&nbsp;

Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Wendy Dodson about the upcoming 21st Annual G.R.E.E.N Event taking place on Saturday, October 21st.

NORTH PLATTE – The 21st annual G.R.E.E.N. fundraising event for the North Platte Catholic Schools is planned for Saturday, October 21st at St. Patrick High School. Generating Resources for Educational Excellence Now is the largest single event of the year for the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Trust, which works year-round to generate around $600,000 for McDaid and St. Patrick’s schools.&nbsp; 

Endowment Director Wendy Dodson says that this year’s event will feature all of the things that supporters have loved about G.R.E.E.N. over the years… A delicious meal, an online silent auction, Heads or Tails game, Lucky Lotto drawing, live auction, and Spirit Wagon raffle. Plus, guests may also try their hand at the Wall of Wine and the Wall of Whiskey and enjoy some fun entertainment with the Polka Police.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dodson says that since the G.R.E.E.N. event began in 2003, it has generated over $2.1 million dollars in&nbsp; support of the North Platte Catholic Schools. These funds have been used to establish a teacher&nbsp; retirement fund, support general operations of McDaid and St. Patrick’s, fund school improvement&nbsp; projects and technology, and to provide tuition assistance for families.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Generating Resources for Educational Excellence Now is the largest single event of the year for the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Trust, which works year-round to generate around $600,000 for McDaid and St. Patrick’s schools.&nbsp; </p><p>Endowment Director Wendy Dodson says that this year’s event will feature all of the things that supporters have loved about G.R.E.E.N. over the years… A delicious meal, an online silent auction, Heads or Tails game, Lucky Lotto drawing, live auction, and Spirit Wagon raffle. Plus, guests may also try their hand at the Wall of Wine and the Wall of Whiskey and enjoy some fun entertainment with the Polka Police.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Dodson says that since the G.R.E.E.N. event began in 2003, it has generated over $2.1 million dollars in&nbsp; support of the North Platte Catholic Schools. These funds have been used to establish a teacher&nbsp; retirement fund, support general operations of McDaid and St. Patrick’s, fund school improvement&nbsp; projects and technology, and to provide tuition assistance for families.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Tickets to G.R.E.E.N. are $75 per person, which includes drinks, dinner &amp; entertainment. Post News Director Canon Rath chatted with Vaughn Fahrenbruck who is the senior pastor for the Rock Church in North Platte. The Rock Church is hosting a RocktoberFest this Saturday.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE - The Rock Church in North Platte is hosting their annual RocktoberFest this Saturday beginning at 5:30 at the Rock Church. The event will have family friendly activities, chili and cinnamon rolls, live music, pumpkin painting, and so much more. The event is free for anyone to attend.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This event initially started off as a chili cookoff before being switched to something fun and new. "It started out as a chili cookoff in our church, and we wanted to show North Platte how much we love our community," said Rock Church Senior Pastor Vaughn Fahrenbruck. "Were very for North Platte, very for our community and decide let's open it up to the entire city." The Rock Church wanted to find ways to expand their chili cookoff and get the community involved and that's how RocktoberFest was created. "We wanted to make it as a popup pumpkin patch and let's make it fun and let's make it free," said Vaughn.&nbsp;

Delahunty say's Rotary is a supportor of Polio Plus;&nbsp;<b>Rotary launched PolioPlus in 1985 and was a founding member of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988</b>. Through decades of commitment and work by Rotary and our partners, more than 2.5 billion children have received the oral polio vaccine.&nbsp; October is also Polio Awareness month, all proceeds from the Haunted House will go back to Polio Plus.
