Bart James Brown, 62 of Ogallala, NE passed away at his home Monday, December 25th, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

Bart was born June 6, 1961, in Denver, CO to Carroll and Arlene (Suggs) Brown. Bart attended schools in Jefferson County, CO.

He had many occupations in his life, he was self-taught as he was a very fast learner and it all just stuck. Bart was a drummer and had a band, he played at multiple events over the years throughout Nebraska and Colorado.

While he lived in Colorado, he owned his own fencing company. After moving to Ogallala, he worked in the farming business and later as a landscaper for a large estate.&nbsp;

His true love was motorcycles, and that love was preferably a Harley; he learned to build, repair, and paint them; his specialty was flames, which he is well known for.

He is preceded in death by his father Carroll Brown and his brother Bret Brown.

Bart is survived by his two daughters Lindsey Brown of Ogallala, NE, and Whitney (Billy Rapp) Brown of Grand Island, NE; stepson Zachary Warner of Pueblo, CO; his mother Arlene Christie of Littleton, CO; sister Brenda (Richard) Ferrari of Craig, CO; his life partner and caretaker until his death, Carla Brown of Ogallala, NE, lifelong friend “ a brother of choice,” Jon Myers of CA; two Grandsons,&nbsp; Cameron of Douglas, WY, and Grayson of Grand Island, NE and granddaughter Tayleigh of Denver, CO; and many nieces and nephews; all who loved him deeply and will miss him.

Bart J. Brown (1961-2023)

Wallace resident Verlaine "Vee" Weir passed away in the company of family while at Great Plains Health in North Platte on December 27, 2023, at the age of 86.

Verlaine, the daughter of Herbert and Eunice Hasenauer, was born on March 1, 1937, in Lincoln County, Nebraska. &nbsp;She grew up in Wallace and graduated from Wallace High School. &nbsp;Just out of high school, Verlaine married Bob Fhuere. &nbsp;Since he was serving in the Air Force they were stationed in Germany and Japan, then came stateside and lived in Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Iowa and eventually back to Nebraska. &nbsp;In 1974 they settled south of Wallace. &nbsp;

In 1978, Vee found herself raising four children on her own following a family hardship. &nbsp;During that year she, along with her sister, brother-in-law and parents, bought the Wallace Café and operated it as the well known Fat Sisters Café. &nbsp;Vee worked 7 days a week to provide for her children. &nbsp;After they sold the café, Vee worked for Wallace Public Schools; she was a bus driver and secretary.

In December of 1983, Vee married Edward Weir and they were together until his death in 2009.&nbsp; They raised foster children and hosed foreign exchange students. After 22 years, Vee retired fro the school district, then she and Ed were able to travel to numerous countries to visit their exchange students (and families) that they hosted over the years.&nbsp;

 Vee was a member of the Wallace Methodist Church, Methodist Women and the Wallace Quilt Club. &nbsp;She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crafting. &nbsp;Vee and Ed even sold her crafts and his woodwork at Americana Plus in Holdrege.

Vee was a good wife, a dedicated mother and loving grandmother. &nbsp;She loved her extended family and looked forward to the monthly lunches in North Platte with her cousins. &nbsp;Vee and her close family and friends also started a week of sewing in her cabin at Johnson Lake. &nbsp;

Vee's home was always open and she had food for everyone. &nbsp;She was a woman of faith who always believed in the good of others. &nbsp;Vee would always say, "It's going to be a good day today."&nbsp;

Along with her husband, Ed, Vee was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and John Kilgore; brother Clinton Hasenauer; her children, Kurt Fhuere, William "Mac" McMurray and Michelle "Misha" Ryan; and grandson, Will McMurray.

Vee is survived by her children, Corey (Rebecca) Fhuere of Jefferson, OR, Cherie (Gavin) McClintock of Elsie and Vickie (Dave) Todd of Sherrard, IL, stepchildren, Kevin (Deanna) Weir of Phillips, NE, Brian (Cheryl) Weir of Omaha and Stacey Weir-Deitrick of Dallas, TX, and daughters, Wendy (Troy) Grothman of Venango, NE, Tonyia (Michael) Miller of North Platte and Rita (Duane) Kirch of Lewellen; daughter-in-law, Susie McMurray of Castle Rock, CO; her brother, Leonard (Joan) Hasenauer of Amarillo, TX; sister, Lee Hunziker of Davenport, IA; sister-in-law, Mary Hasenauer of Wallace; her loving neighbors, Rick and Diane Bryant; her exchange students, Argie, Carlos, Kelly, &nbsp;Iraima, Adriana, Peta, Diana and Juliana; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and other family.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Wallace Methodist Church, which will be live streaming the service.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Morning View Cemetery at Wallace.&nbsp; 

Visitation is 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore in North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements. The family will be present from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Verlaine Weir (1937-2023)

On December 26, 2023, Tommy Jefferson Fisher, Jr., passed away at his home in Hershey, NE. &nbsp;Born to Tommy and Norma (James) Fisher, Sr. in North Platte, he was the sixth of eleven children.

Tommy attended school in North Platte and on November 24, 1969, he was united in marriage to Barbara Freeman. &nbsp;From this marriage, he accepted two boys as his own: Mike and Jerry. &nbsp;Tommy worked briefly for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1969 to 1971. &nbsp;Upon his leaving the railroad, he began a long career as a heavy equipment operator in construction, once in a while, helping his son, Mike, transport and set mobile homes. &nbsp;Tommy retired in 1986 due to medical complications but never quit his passion as a “junk dealer”. &nbsp;He was known to attend all the auctions and garage sales he could and often sold items that most people considered to be junk. &nbsp;He was a mechanical man, occasionally fixing vehicles for others; he even built his own boat, one that is still functional today. &nbsp;On this boat, he loved to take people out for fishing trips; he and Barb spent 26 winter years in Texas, fishing. &nbsp;Tommy was a jolly man and had a wonderful heart, treating others how he hoped to be treated.

Those that survive Tommy include his wife, Barbara of Hershey, NE; son, Mike (Sheila) Sneed of North Platte; grandchildren, Amy Sneed of North Platte, Scott (Chandra) Sneed of North Platte; great grandchildren, Austin (fiancé, Kylie) Sneed, Jillian Sneed, and Emily Sneed; great great grandchildren, Bowen and Barrett; siblings, Lois Reeves, Martha (Don) Hubert, Earl (Rae) Fisher, Joe (Cheryl) Fisher, all of North Platte; several nieces and nephews and other family.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Tommy and Norma; son, Jerry; great granddaughter, Isabella (Dizzy) Sneed; siblings, David, Anard, Leo, Evelyn, Jerry, and Ira.

Tommy Jefferson Fisher, Jr. (1945-2023)

&nbsp; Robert Glen Walgren was born May 5, 1931 to Leslie and Lillian (Tatum) Walgren in rural Dundy County, NE.

Robert grew up and attended elementary school in rural Dundy County south of Wauneta and later attended and graduated from Wauneta High School.

After graduating, Robert worked at the local grocery store until enlisting in the United States Navy.

Robert married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Lucille Voorhees on November 11, 1951 at United Methodist Church in Wauneta, NE. For Robert, this marked the date on which he joined the church, a membership that would last for 72 years. After the wedding, the couple moved to San Diego, CA for the Navy.

To this union, two sons were born, Rex Alan and Scott Robert both in San Diego, CA. The family moved back to Wauneta in 1954 and Bob went to work at the grocery store. Shortly after his return, Bob partnered with Dwight Hoff and the two formed Hoff’s Grocery.

Some years later, Dwight and Robert built Super Foods in Imperial, NE then later divided the partnership where Robert became the sole owner of the Wauneta store and Dwight became sole owner of Super Foods. Robert and his boys proudly owned and operated Walgrens Super Market until 2016.

When he wasn’t at the grocery store, Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and poker. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Blackhawk, CO to try his luck at the slot machines. He enjoyed a great fish fry, founded the Walgren golf tournament in Enders, NE, and he enjoyed fighting fire.

Robert loved his community and enjoyed giving back where and when he could. He was a proud member of the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, he also served as Mayor of Wauneta, was on the town board, the school board, was a Mason and participated in poker club. He found time to open Steakout Restaurant in downtown Wauneta because he just felt like the town needed a restaurant on Main Street. He enjoyed a good Limerick and he made the world’s best Bologna. A secret that Scott carries to this day. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Sharon; his sons, Rex (Kathy) and Scott (Karen); grandchildren, Jamie Wiess, Jeremy Walgren, step grandsons, Carson and Chris Watt, Raenelle Thoms, Michael and Daniel Gardner and Renae Watkins; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Keith, Janice, Evelyn, Lucille, Maxine and Everett; and granddaughter, Katie Watt-Bradbury. Visitation will be held Tuesday December 26 from 4:00-6:00 P.M (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday December 27 at 10:30 A.M. (MT) at Wauneta Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Loy officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, NE.

Robert Glen Walgren (1931-2023)

Albert Brown, 93, of Lewellen, passed away Sunday morning, December 24, 2023 at the Regional West Garden County Nursing Home.

Albert Louis Brown, the son of Louis Franklin Brown and Minnie Louisa (Taylor) Brown, was born on April 21, 1930 at Lewellen, NE. Long time Garden County residents, his paternal grandparents, Steven &amp; Phoebe Brown homesteaded north of Lewellen about 1900, and his maternal grandparents, Win &amp; Louisa Taylor ranched southwest of Lewellen since 1900. He attended grade school at District 8, east of Oshkosh and graduated from Garden County High School in 1948.

On June 3, 1951 he married the love of his life, Bonna Merle Lance at the Lisco Presbyterian Church. Albert and Bonna Merle were blessed with two children, Teresa Ann and Terry Kent. Albert worked for Irvie Waltman as a well driller, a ranch hand for August Buske and in 1955 moved to his present home northeast of Lewellen. He rented this farm until 1965, when he was able to purchase it. He also worked during the winter months for nine years at the Great Western Sugar Factory at Ovid, Co. In 2015, Albert was awarded the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award for his family's 105 years ownership of his family's farm, 7 ½ miles northeast of Lewellen.

Albert was a member of the Lewellen Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board, served on the Blue Creek Irrigation Board, Ash Hollow Cemetery Board, and was a Bank of Lewellen Board Member.

In October 2017, he entered the nursing home in Oshkosh, with Alzheimer’s. Those who cared for him there, loved him for his wit, willingness to help others and his never-ending kind heart for everyone.

Albert is survived by daughter, Teresa McKeeman of Oshkosh; son, Terry and wife LeAnn Brown of Lewellen; four grandchildren, Carla and husband, Dutch Orr, Abbey Brown, Chris and wife Beth Ardissono, Amy and John Ragsdale; three step-grandchildren, Todd and wife Shar McKeeman, Tammy Unger and Paul Blume, and Tara and husband Sean Fries; six great-grandchildren; eleven step great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

He was&nbsp;preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonna Merle in 2008; brothers Virgil, Russell and Stephen; &nbsp;and son in law James McKeeman.&nbsp;

Long time Garden County residents, his paternal grandparents, Steven &amp; Phoebe Brown homesteaded north of Lewellen about 1900, and his maternal grandparents, Win &amp; Louisa Taylor ranched southwest of Lewellen since 1900. He attended grade school at District 8, east of Oshkosh and graduated from Garden County High School in 1948.On June 3, 1951 he married the love of his life, Bonna Merle Lance at the Lisco Presbyterian Church. Albert and Bonna Merle were blessed with two children, Teresa Ann and Terry Kent. Albert worked for Irvie Waltman as a well driller, a ranch hand for August Buske and in 1955 moved to his present home northeast of Lewellen. He rented this farm until 1965, when he was able to purchase it. He also worked during the winter months for nine years at the Great Western Sugar Factory at Ovid, Co. In 2015, Albert was awarded the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award for his family's 105 years ownership of his family's farm, 7 ½ miles northeast of Lewellen.Albert was a member of the Lewellen Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board, served on the Blue Creek Irrigation Board, Ash Hollow Cemetery Board, and was a Bank of Lewellen Board Member.In October 2017, he entered the nursing home in Oshkosh, with Alzheimer’s. Those who cared for him there, loved him for his wit, willingness to help others and his never-ending kind heart for everyone.Albert is survived by daughter, Teresa McKeeman of Oshkosh; son, Terry and wife LeAnn Brown of Lewellen; four grandchildren, Carla and husband, Dutch Orr, Abbey Brown, Chris and wife Beth Ardissono, Amy and John Ragsdale; three step-grandchildren, Todd and wife Shar McKeeman, Tammy Unger and Paul Blume, and Tara and husband Sean Fries; six great-grandchildren; eleven step great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.He was&nbsp;preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonna Merle in 2008; brothers Virgil, Russell and Stephen; &nbsp;and son in law James McKeeman.&nbsp;

Albert Brown (1930-2023)

Ronald Gene Larsen peacefully passed away on December 9, 2023, at his home in San Antonio, Texas.

Ron was born on February 12, 1936, to Lawrence and Florence (Mickles) Larsen in Grant, Nebraska. He was raised on the family farm north of Grant with his siblings: Lois, Lillian, Keith, and Larry. He attended Perkins County High School. A loyal Plainsman, Ron was active as a cheerleader and yearbook photographer. Many of the photos were of the yearbook editor, Kay Mather. He graduated in 1955. The Future Farmers of America awarded him two honorary degrees, first the State Farmer of Nebraska degree in 1955 and then the American Farmer degree in 1957.

Ron and Kay were married in Lamar in 1956. The newlyweds settled on a farm near Otis, Colorado. As the couple started their life together, they were soon blessed with three daughters: Rhonda, Pam, and Jacque. In 1962, the young family moved to Lakewood, Colorado. Two years later, Ron was filled with pride at the arrival of a son, Russell.

Ron had a high aptitude for technical subjects and found work in Data Processing for the early computer industry. He worked his way up through the corporate world with jobs at Midland Federal Savings &amp; Loan, Mid-Continent Computer Services, Inc., Security Pacific Mortgage Corporation, Financial Data Systems, Inc., in Denver, Colorado. Modular Information Systems in Orlando, Florida, and United California Savings Bank in Santa Ana, California, before retiring to San Antonio. Ron and Kay's homes were always welcoming, and the guest room was always ready for visitors.

His love for photography remained strong throughout his life. Sunday afternoon drives to the mountains to capture the beauty of nature through the seasons, then down to the basement darkroom to develop the best one of the day. Ron was always busy with a project, maintaining and improving his home. He spent his vacations traveling to his children's homes to work on improvements for them, finishing basements, installing appliances, building walls, and landscaping. He got pleasure from making life better for his family.

Ron moved away from Nebraska and farming, but it never left his heart. Frequent trips to Grant to visit family and check on the farm. The long drive was punctuated by the children asking, "What's growing in that field?" He answered in seconds at 70 miles an hour. His love for Nebraska is evident in many of his computer passwords containing "Big Red" in some form.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Catherine (Kay) Mather Larsen; his daughter, Rhonda Larsen Ferguson; his parents, Lawrence and Florence Larsen; his siblings, Lois Jones, Lillian Jones, Keith Larsen, and Larry Larsen.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam Larsen and Jacque Larsen Goldsmith; his son, Russell Larsen and his wife Sarah; grandchildren, Stephanie Ferguson Pyke and her husband John, Aaron Ferguson and wife Hiroko; James Ferguson and his wife Maggie, Adrienne Ferguson Kanan and her husband Walid, Winston Goldsmith, Elizabeth Larsen, Peter Larsen, and great-grandchildren, Kai Ferguson, Aila Ferguson, Logan, Kanan, Millie Ferguson, and Theo Ferguson.

Ronald Larsen (1936-2023)

William Keith Shepherd, a long time resident of Arvada, Colorado and North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully in his sleep December 24, 2023 at the age of 98 years old.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his wife Eva Lee (Reese) Shepherd of Odin, Missouri, brothers Kenneth Shepherd of Austin, Texas and Roger Shepherd of Eldon, Missouri, sisters Aline Shepherd of Eldon, Missouri, Betty (Shepherd) Joachim of Steeleville, Missouri and Dorothy (Shepherd) Nathan of Salt Lake City, Utah.&nbsp;

He is survived by his son, Stuart Shepherd, and daughter-in-law Rajean (Luebs) Shepherd, his son, Brett Shepherd.&nbsp; Also survived by his grandchildren: Breton Shepherd and Caitlin (Stroup) Shepherd and Collin Shepherd and Alex Wurth. Great-Grandchildren: Kennedy Elizabeth Shepherd. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.&nbsp;

Mr. Shepherd was born on his parent's farm June 2, 1925, in Eldon, Missouri. He is the second oldest son of William Cuth Shepherd and Effie Pearl (Winnop) Shepherd.&nbsp;

After graduating high school in 1943, he farmed in Eldon for a short time before entering the draft toward the end of the World War II. In 1945, he rose to the rank of Sergeant with the 3348th Quartermaster Truck Company (South Pacific Base Command) in the United States Army while stationed on the island of New Caledonia in the Coral Sea. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and received his Overseas Service Stripes.&nbsp;

Upon returning home, he graduated from the University of Missouri in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and was a member of Alpha Zeta Fraternity. After graduation, he served as County Extension agent for Newton County, Missouri (Neosho), and the 4-H Youth Development Program. He judged Guernsey and Jersey breeds throughout southwestern Missouri and was a member of American Guernsey Association.&nbsp;

From 1954 until 1967, he served a field representative for the Pet Milk Company in Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. In 1968, he accepted a position with the Creamery Packaging Company (Crepaco) in Denver, Colorado which sold dairy processing and production equipment. He made many friends throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota.&nbsp;

He later worked for Vance Food Distributing Company where he worked until his retirement in 1997 – Arvada, Colorado. He supplied many ice cream parlors in Colorado and Wyoming with ice cream flavors and toppings! &nbsp;He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Denver and later was a member of North Platte United Methodist Church, North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp;

William Keith Shepherd (1925-2023)

Ivan Abraham Armstrong, aged 89, passed away on December 21, 2023, in Ogallala, Nebraska.

He was born on January 25, 1934, in Roscoe, NE, to George and Ruth (Walker) Armstrong. Ivan attended Ogallala High School and later pursued higher education at Doane College.&nbsp;

Ivan married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Lou Skinner, on August 7, 1955. Ivan was a devoted husband to Wanda Lou, a loving father to his children, and a wonderful grandfather.

Ivan was known for his honesty, hard work, trustworthiness, compassion, and caring nature. He led a remarkable life, filled with various accomplishments and roles. Ivan began working at the family gas station and sporting goods store at a very young age. He also served the community as the Keith County Sheriff for two terms and as a Nebraska State Liquor Commissioner. Additionally, Ivan was involved in construction contracting, professional trapping, a hunting guide, and explosives expertise. His diverse career showcased his dedication and passion.

Fishing was his reel passion, especially when chasing those elusive Walleye. Ivan also enjoyed hunting and a daily dose of ice cream.

Ivan found solace in nature and his faith. He was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Ogallala. His spiritual connection provided him with strength and support throughout his life.

He was a proud 50-year member of the Masons of Nebraska.

Ivan was preceded in death by his daughter Jacque, his sister Patricia, brother Johnny, and son-in-law Rick Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lou, his son, Michael Scott (Nancy) of Ogallala, and daughter, Jill Adams (Chandler, AZ), his brothers, Michael of North Platte and Bill (Diane) of Ogallala, his grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Mallory, Elizabeth, and Katherine, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In honor of Ivan's memory, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bob was born June 7, 1937, at Greeley, Nebraska to Leo and Elizabeth (Trella) Harris. He graduated from Ericson High School with the class of 1954, before entering the US Air Force.

Following Bob's discharge in 1958, he attended the Radio Engineering Institute in Omaha until 1963. He worked at Collins Radio in Davenport, Iowa from 1965-1966. On June 23, 1965, Bob married Mary McCain at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Burwell. Their union was blessed with two children, Troy and Lesa. The couple made their home in Ogallala, where Bob worked at TRW/ASC from 1966-1997. He was the General Manager of TRW Electronica in Guadalajara, Mexico from 1979-1982 and the Vice President of operations in Ogallala from 1990-1997.

Bob enjoyed playing golf and coffee with his friends. He was easygoing and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Bob was a faithful member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Elizabeth Harris.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Ogallala; children, Troy (Cristal) Harris of Lincoln; Lesa (Will) Morris of Ceresco; grandchildren, Hailey and Lindsey Morris and Miriam Harris; along with many other relatives and friends.

Jerion was born to Lynn Murer and Geraldine (Thurston) Murer on November 12, 1946, in Scottsbluff, NE. She attended school in Hyannis, NE.

On August 30, 1963, she married James W. Bestol in Scottsbluff, NE making their home in Hyannis, NE, and then, they moved and lived in California for a short time, returning to Hyannis, NE in 1970.

Jeroin worked at Hazel’s Shop, Dredla’s Grocery until opening The Ashby Café, until the late 90s when they closed the café.

Jeroin filled her time and found so much joy spending time with her family. She had many hobbies from feeding her squirrels and birds, collecting Elvis memorabilia, she loved a good card game, reading, putting together puzzles of wolves, she loved dolphins and every night she enjoyed a Miller Lite.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Geraldine and Dennis; a sister, Jerrylynn and brother-in-law, Doug Duncan.

Jeroin is survived by her three sons: Bill (LaNita) Bestol of Alliance, NE, Walter Bestol of Kimberly, Wisconsin, and Kevin (Wendy) Bestol of Hyannis, NE; Seven Grandchildren: Ryan (Kassie) Bestol, Gary (Jessie Boodleman) Bestol, Brittany (Ben) Clausen, Rodney (Melissa) Nelson, Dani Roland, Alexis Bestol, Jesika Bestol; five Great-Grandchildren: Omar Khatib, Alina Khatib, Lily Roland, Kaebri Laymen and Hadley Boodleman; along with several nephews and nieces.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. in the Hyannis Cemetery in Hyannis, NE. Pastor Jonathan Oetting of Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church will be officiating.

Jeroin Lee Bestol (1946-2023)

Gail Catherine Nelson, age 85, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, in Englewood, CO. Gail was born in Perkins County on May 6, 1938, and resided in Perkins County her entire life. She and her twin brother Gary Charles were the second and third children of Charles and Helen Andersen Hilferty.

Gail attended Madrid Consolidated Schools and graduated with the class of 1956. After high school, she moved to Denver and attended Saint Anthony School of Nursing. After completing nurse training, she returned to Perkins County, began her career with Perkins County Community Hospital, and continued working there for over fifty years.

Gail was married to Keith Nelson in 1958 and was married for sixty-two years. Two sons Martin (Lori) of Denver, CO, and Dennis (Julie) of Lincoln, NE, were born to this union.

Survivors include five grandchildren: Andrew (Hadley), Tyler (Erin), Travis, Troy (Kelsey Bohling), and Trina (John Popple), sisters Marian Glunz (Bill Robertson) of Elsie, and Sharon Day of Madrid and brothers Gary Hilferty (Karen) of Grant, NE, and Lyle (Wyvonne) Hilferty of Limon, CO. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Kaye Mankhey of Lincoln, NE, and Lynda Hilferty of Madrid, NE.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, her in-laws, Frank and Helen Nelson, a sister, Dona, a brother, David, and nephews Tom Hilferty and Rob Mankhey.

Gail Nelson (1938-2023)

Karl Christian Mohler, 56 of North Platte Nebraska died at home on 8 December 2023. &nbsp;Known as K.C. to his family, he was born on 19 Jan, 1967 at McDill AFB in Tampa, Florida. &nbsp;K.C. attended Biloxi High School in Mississippi and graduated from Hirschi High School in Wichita Falls, Texas. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served proudly for 8 years as a munition’s technician. He met his beloved wife, Lisa while stationed at Mt. Home, Idaho. &nbsp;Shortly after their marriage on 16 July, 1988, K.C. served an isolated one-year tour in Korea. &nbsp;Upon his return, Lisa rejoined him at Dyess AFB. While serving there, he took a part time job delivering for Pizza Hut. &nbsp;After leaving the Air Force, he was promoted to Shift Leader in the Abilene store and was later selected to manage the Pizza Hut franchise in Stamford, Texas. &nbsp;In 1998, capitalizing on his military experience, he graduated from Professional Commercial Truck Driving school, driving for Frozen Food Express for 8 years before transferring to Crete Carrier Corporation in 2006. &nbsp;He served the Nation’s rural and metropolitan areas driving trucks and delivering goods for 25 years. &nbsp;He earned a “One-Million-Mile Safe Driving Award” and earned a position on Crete’s contract with Walmart in North Platte Nebraska. &nbsp;Throughout his Truck-driving career, he cultivated relationships with store managers and was well known for providing excellent customer service.

Karl is survived by his wife, Lisa Mohler, his parents Leila and Harlan Mohler of Arden North Carolina, his brother Ricky Mohler of Bastrop Texas, sisters, Vennessa Hagan of Arden, North Carolina, and Shelley Zaidi of Anchorage, Alaska, as well as nieces Meghan Delhomme and Amanda Brennen, his nephew, Trevor Hagan, his Uncle and Aunt, Thomas and Caroline Mohler of Broken Bow, Nebraska, as well as many other family members and friends.

K.C. loved serving in the Air Force as did his entire family. &nbsp;After separating from the service, he gave his family license plates that sported an Air Force logo stating, “Serving Your Family; That’s What My Family Does.” &nbsp;Service represents the essence of K.C.’s character. &nbsp;In High School he supported his friends through difficult times. &nbsp;During his time at Dyess, he taught Bible Study classes. He took care of elderly neighbors in Stamford, Texas. &nbsp;He taught healthy cooking and encouraged others in exercise. &nbsp;During their time in Idaho Karl and Lisa loved riding horses together and assisted in some of the wild horse roundups. &nbsp;His sense of adventure led him to snow camping, tubing on the river, hikes with Lisa and enjoying the outdoors. He was also an accomplished artist, specializing in pen and ink and charcoal drawings. &nbsp;Always trying to make others laugh, he’d stay connected to family by texting and sending jokes. &nbsp;K.C. was generous, always serving and helping others. &nbsp;He is remembered by his family as a loving husband, son, and brother. &nbsp;Take Me Home Country Roads was one of his favorite songs. &nbsp;Karl is home now, enveloped in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sandra “Sandy” Bondegard, 64, of Lodgepole passed away Saturday, December 16. 2023 in Longmont.

Sandra Lee was born February 9, 1959, in Chappell to Gilbert and Janice (Booth) Christensen.&nbsp; She grew up in Chappell and attended school there graduating in 1977.&nbsp; After high school, she went to work for her mom at Jan’s Coffee Cup.&nbsp; Throughout the years, she cooked at many different restaurants in the area.

She was united in marriage to Jimmie Bondegard on March 12, 1981.&nbsp; They welcomed Brandon Lloyd in April 1981 and James Joseph in March of 1986.

Sandy enjoyed kids, crocheting, reading, cooking, especially enchiladas, but above all she loved her family, keeping track of all her nieces and nephews through Facebook and phone calls.&nbsp; Her favorite times were visits from friends and her grand-furbabies.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmie of Lodgepole; 2 sons, Brandon (Amy) Bondegard of Sidney and James (Paula) Bondegard of Oshkosh; siblings, Donald Christensen and Debbie Christensen; special friends, Mary Jo and Terry Klinetobe; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Jolene Krems (1949-2023)

&nbsp; Kelly Joseph Liewer was born September 16, 1934, at Butte, Nebraska, to Edward W. and Leone C. (Tiefenthaler) Liewer. He grew up and attended school in Butte, spending his summers on the Al and Laurine Engelhaupt ranch. Kelly graduated from Butte High School in 1952, excelling in athletics. He continued his education attending the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. for several years completing his bachelor’s degree at Peru State College.

While attending Peru State, Kelly met Thelma Conyac and the couple were married on May 27, 1957, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hamburg, Iowa. They settled briefly in Peru while attending summer school and then embarked on careers in teaching and secondary education administration. Kelly was a principal and superintendent of schools in St. Edward, Nebraska, and superintendent of schools in Palmyra, Nebraska. He earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 1968, and began a thirty-year career as the Registrar of Peru State College.

Kelly and Thelma, along with their growing family, made their home in Peru. After raising their family, Kelly and Thelma moved to Auburn, Nebraska, in 1988, and retired to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1998.

Kelly was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church of Lincoln. He enjoyed many activities throughout his life including fishing, pheasant hunting, bowling, horseshoe pitching, playing cards, and attending Peru State and the University of Nebraska Athletics events especially Husker Volleyball with Thelma.

Golf was a passion and he looked forward to warm weather every year. Kelly especially loved to follow his children and grandchildren in the events that they participated in. Reviewing each and every play of a game was a favorite.

Kelly passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his home in Lincoln. He was 89 years of age.

Kelly was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Thelma, parents, sister, Patricia (Rollie) Beran, father and mother-in-law; Hector and Julia Conyac, brother-in-law: Bud (Iva) Conyac and nephew, Chris (Dee) Conyac.

He earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 1968, and began a thirty-year career as the Registrar of Peru State College.Kelly and Thelma, along with their growing family, made their home in Peru. After raising their family, Kelly and Thelma moved to Auburn, Nebraska, in 1988, and retired to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1998.Kelly was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church of Lincoln. He enjoyed many activities throughout his life including fishing, pheasant hunting, bowling, horseshoe pitching, playing cards, and attending Peru State and the University of Nebraska Athletics events especially Husker Volleyball with Thelma.Golf was a passion and he looked forward to warm weather every year. Kelly especially loved to follow his children and grandchildren in the events that they participated in. Reviewing each and every play of a game was a favorite.Kelly passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his home in Lincoln. He was born to Ross and Sheila (Hinsdale) Roudebush on January 13, 1947 in Oshkosh, NE.&nbsp; He was one of five children. He grew up in Oshkosh and attended Oshkosh Elementary School and graduated from Garden County High School in 1965.&nbsp; Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and entered into service, June 1965. He earned the rank of E5. He was discharged in May 1974.

He then worked for McDonall Douglass as a computer programmer.&nbsp; He married and divorced during this time.&nbsp; Following this venture, he moved back to the Oshkosh area and began a long career as an over the road truck driver.

Kenny was an avid animal lover who spoiled each and every dog he ever owned.&nbsp; He was all about rescuing animals in need. He always made sure they had more food and snacks than he had.&nbsp; Kenny was part of the Ogallala Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and the Chappell VFW.&nbsp; He loved family holidays and enjoyed playing cards with his siblings. He loved watching Husker football and volleyball as well as all of the Eagles sports.

Kenny enjoyed dining out and socializing at local restaurants.

Kenny is survived by special family members, Teresa &amp; Dale Jenkins and Tammy Krauter as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth "Kenny" Roudebush (1947-2023)

Betty Ann Armknecht Morrison, 90, of Ogallala, passed away on December 14, 2023, at North Platte, Nebraska.

Betty was born July 11, 1933, at Orum, Nebraska, to Harvey Frederick and Mildred Anna Amanda Marie (Walkenhorst) Ahlmeyer. She was Baptized at St Paul's Lutheran Church on July 28, 1933, and in March of 1947, Betty Ann was Confirmed in the faith.

On May 28, 1950, Betty married Ervin Arthur Armknecht at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala. The couple briefly made their home in Ogallala before moving to the homeplace south of town, where they farmed and raised their four children: Kathy, Deb, Cheryl, and Kevin. The two loved to square dance whenever they got the chance or share a game of cards with the neighbors.

Betty was a woman of great faith, ambition, talent, and hard work. She owned and operated a candy store at the Dutchess Hotel with her sister-in-law, Pauline Armknecht for a short time. Following that, she specialized in baking cakes for hundreds of weddings over the years. Her cakes garnered renown over the years; her frosting recipe is still a guarded family treasure.

Betty was also an excellent seamstress and made the wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses for all of her daughters' weddings. She was sewing into her 90th year, one of the many proofs that Betty did not eat the bread of idleness. She was also an excellent woodworker.

Betty drew up the plans for the home they built south of town, and when Ervin passed away, she took over the farm with the help of her children. She loved to garden and put up produce. Part of their life on the farm involved raising turkeys and chickens, ensuring there were always enough eggs for making cakes and fried chicken for family meals on Sundays.

On April 18, 1987, Betty married Larry Morrison at Oshkosh, and the couple was blessed with 25 years together.

Betty will be remembered in countless ways by her family, especially through the lens of her faith. Betty's Confirmation verse, 1 Corinthians 6:20, is especially resonant as her life's story shows the many ways that she glorified God in what He graciously gave her.

Betty was preceded in death by spouses, Ervin Armknecht and Larry Morrison; three grandchildren, Brian Keith Eichner, Timothy Scott Eichner, and Troy Lynn Rosentrater; and a stepdaughter, Lynn Morrison.

Survivors include her children, Kathy (Paul) Taylor of Ogallala, Deb (Jerry) Rosentrater of Elsie, and Cheryl (Kurt) Schiel of North Platte, Kevin (Deb) Armknecht of Ogallala; stepchildren, Lori Morrison of Joplin, MO, Lisa (Randy) Smith of Kearney; 11 grandchildren, Jeff (Jamie) Eichner &amp; Jarret (Jamee) Eichner of North Platte, Chad (Suzi) Rosentrater &amp; Scott (Mindy) Rosentrater of Elsie, Stacey (Quinton) Patzlaff of Alexandria, SD, Matt (Kara) Pedersen &amp; Brady (Katie) Pedersen of Omaha, Krissa Pedersen of Long Island, Tom (Tracey) Armknecht of Spalding, Amanda (Shane) Harger &amp; Travis (Laykne) Armknecht of Ogallala; 39 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Cook of Ogallala; along with many other relatives and friends.

Betty Morrison (1933-2023)

&nbsp;&nbsp; George Kermit Arterburn, age 95, of McCook, passed away at his home on December 14, 2023. He was born in Imperial on December 18, 1927 to Roley W. &amp; Ruby (Lock) Arterburn. Kermit attended and graduated from Imperial High School in 1945.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Kermit married Wanda Belau in 1950 and to this union four children were born: Debra, Daniel, Thomas, and Lynda. On February 14, 1970 he was united in marriage to Charlene Seybold, and added another daughter, Chris, to the family. Kermit worked for McCook Equity and later formed a corporation of stockholders, which became known as Stockman’s Feed and Supply. In 1979 Kermit went out on his own starting Arterburn Construction, building custom homes with his sons and son-in-law. They built about 50 homes and did many remodels. The first (1977) and last (2000) homes were his and Charlene’s. Kermit was a craftsman and was the general contractor for the first Habitat for Humanity home in McCook. In addition, they built the current Humane Society building in McCook. In retirement, Kermit enjoyed puzzles, dominos and watching Wheel of Fortune. He was still able to mow his own yard.&nbsp;

He restored several antique tractors, including two for his nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, Roley &amp; Ruby; son, Daniel; siblings, Barbara (Herman) Banks, Roley Jr. (Alyce) Arterburn, Virginia (Ken) Spady and Keith (Hazel) Arterburn; son-in-law, Jim Winchell; mother-in-law Beulah Seybold; and his favorite mini-Pomeranian, Khole.&nbsp; &nbsp; Kermit is survived by his wife, Charlene; children: Deb Winchell, Tom (Cindi) Arterburn, Lynda (David) Kreutzer, and Chris (Randy) Zwickle; grandchildren: Joshua, Jennifer (Marc), Joel (Taryn), Jacob (Heather), Emma (Josh), Todd (Staci), Sara, Nicole (Matt), Cailee (Seth), Elissa (Bradley), and Andrea (Nick); great-grandchildren: Bentley, Harper, Drake, Corbin, Emersyn, Holden, Jase, Marah, Maeve, Everlea, Camden, Booker, Kealey, Ethan, Addyson, JD, Carson, Daniel, Joseph and Alvy. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sharon (Lynn) Riley and brother-in-law, Robert Seybold; along with many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 10am-5pm at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
