Acting United States Attorney Matthew Molsen announced that Jose Luis Deleon, 65, of Grand Island, Nebraska, was sentenced on February 13, 2025, in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska for two counts of distribution of methamphetamine. United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis sentenced Deleon to a total of 57 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After Deleon’s release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.

On or about May 12, 2014, a Confidential Informant (“CI”) working with the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force arranged to purchase one ounce of meth for $1,100 in Grand Island.  The CI and Deleon met at a location, where the CI gave the money to Deleon in exchange for 23 grams of actual meth.

On or about May 22, 2014, the same CI from the buy on May 12, arranged to purchase another one-ounce quantity of meth for $1,100 from Deleon.  The CI and Deleon met at a location, where the CI gave the money to Deleon in exchange for another 23 grams of actual meth.

Deleon was originally set for an entry of plea in July of 2015.  He failed to appear for that hearing and did not appear again, until he was arrested in Houston, Texas in June of 2024.

This case was investigated by the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force
