TOPEKA – A federal grand jury in Wichita returned an indictment charging Kansas man with attempting to produce child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to the United State's Attorney.
According to court documents, Tyller White, 24, of Parsons was indicted on one count of sexual exploitation of a child – attempted production of child pornography.
Just before 2:30a.m. July 25, deputies with the Labette County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of an individual allegedly videotaping a female juvenile in a bathroom, according to a media release.
Investigators collected video evidence and deputies arrested White and he was booked into the Labette County Jail on requested charges of Breach of Privacy and Official Misconduct. At the time of his arrest, White worked as a police officer for the city of Parsons.
White was transferred to a federal holding facility in Sumner County, according to online jail records. He will remain there until his appearance in federal court, according to the Labette County Sheriff's office.
The Parsons Police Department was made aware of the arrest. Upon learning of the allegations involving Officer Tyller White, the Parsons Police Department immediately initiated an Internal Affairs investigation while fully cooperating with the criminal investigation being conducted by the Labette County Sheriff's Office, according to Police Lieutenant Jason Ludwig.
Following a comprehensive review of the facts and evidence, the department determined that Officer White's conduct was inconsistent with the standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct expected of every member of the Parsons Police Department. White employment was terminated.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating the case.
