CASS COUNTY, Neb. — A 65-year-old Eagle man died Thursday afternoon following what authorities described as a rolling domestic disturbance involving two vehicles in Cass County.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a 911 call at approximately 2:37 p.m. on May 6 reporting the incident.

Investigators said a 63-year-old woman told dispatchers she was driving a pickup truck when her husband, identified as Kevin LaPage of Eagle, began pursuing her in a separate pickup.

The woman reported she was traveling out of Elmwood on Highway 1 toward Highway 34, also known as O Street, in the direction of Eagle.

During the 911 call, the caller stated LaPage was attempting to run her off the road and was ramming her vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities said the suspect vehicle later left the roadway, entered a field, and crashed into an outbuilding at a rural residence in the 27200 block of O Street near Elmwood.

Dispatchers directed the woman to a nearby safe location to meet with a deputy while additional deputies and Nebraska State Patrol troopers responded to the crash scene.

When officers arrived, they found the pickup inside the outbuilding. A drone was deployed, and officers observed the driver still inside the vehicle with apparent injuries.

Deputies later confirmed LaPage was the sole occupant of the vehicle and determined he was deceased at the scene.

Elmwood Rescue, Cass County Medics, and Cass County Emergency Management also responded after the scene was secured.

The incident remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. No additional information has been released.
