Nebraska freshman setter Bergen Reilly was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week and the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.&nbsp;

Reilly led the Huskers to sweeps of No. 21 Ohio State and No. 12 Minnesota over the weekend by averaging 12.67 assists per set, 1.67 digs per set and 0.83 blocks per set.

In the 3-0 win against the Buckeyes on Friday, Reilly had 37 assists as the Huskers hit .333. On Sunday, Reilly showed her defensive prowess, totaling 39 assists with eight digs and four blocks, including a solo stuff.&nbsp;

The freshman setter from Sioux Falls, S.D. led the Huskers to a .268 hitting percentage for the week. Reilly has set the Huskers to a .294 hitting percentage this season, which ranks second in the Big Ten and among the top 10 nationally.&nbsp;

Reilly named B1G Setter, Freshman of the Week

Despite outshooting No. 4 Penn State 16-13 on the road, the Nebraska soccer team dropped its first conference match of the season, falling 1-0 to the Nittany Lions on Sunday afternoon.

Overall, the Huskers also led in shots on goal (4-3) and corners (5-4), but it was not enough as NU fell to 7-2-2 and 1-1-1 (Big Ten) on the season, and PSU improved to 9-0-1 and 3-0-0 (Big Ten).

In the first half, Penn State had an early chance with a shot hitting the inside of the post, but the Huskers responded with the match’s first shot on goal in the 11th minute by Sadie Waite. Both teams had additional opportunities to score, but no finishes were tallied, and the Huskers held Penn State scoreless in the first 45 minutes. The teams were tied with two shots on goal apiece at halftime, but NU held the advantage in corner kicks (3-2).

The Huskers continued to fight for the first goal recording two shots and earning a corner kick in the opening five minutes of the second half. NU’s defense then proved resilient staving off four shots and two corner kicks to keep the game scoreless over halfway through the second half.

Then highlighting NU’s second-half play was a cross sent in by Abbey Schwarz, tied for the team-high with five assists, met by Briley Hill who took a sliding shot which was saved by the Penn State goalie in the 72nd minute. Schwarz then did it again in the 76th minute with another cross, this time just outside the goal box, to Sadie Waite who took a shot that was also saved for PSU’s Katherine Asman’s fifth save of the game.

After a Husker foul just outside the 18-yard box, Penn State took advantage of a free kick as Cori Dyke found the back of the net for the game winner, off assists from Kate Wiesner and Eva Alonso in the 81st minute.

NU was unable to score the equalizer in the final nine minutes of the game and dropped its first conference match of the season.

In the goal, Sami Hauk played the complete game and tallied two saves. Hauk was joined by defenders Nicola Hauk and Lauryn Anglim, and forward Dale who also played the full 90 minutes.

Up next, the Huskers return home and host Rutgers on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7:05 p.m. (CT). Action will be aired on BTN.

Going 6-0 in the three-day tournament and winning each match in straight sets, she now advances to the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wearecollegetennis.com/championships/ita-cup/" target="_blank">ITA Cup</a>&nbsp;(formerly known as the ITA Small College Championships). That event is Oct. 12-16 in Rome, Ga., with seeding to be done later. Zamorano&nbsp;(Mexico) joins Vanessa&nbsp;Gunawan&nbsp;(2011) as Loper women to win a regional singles title;&nbsp;Gunawan&nbsp;went onto finish seventh.&nbsp; &nbsp;The three-day event was hosted by Central Oklahoma and featured "A", "B" and "C" singles and doubles draws, both championship and consolation. Lopers having strong showing at ITA’s

The North Platte Community College volleyball team used a home court advantage to defeat the Northeast Community College Hawks in five sets Saturday afternoon. Northeast is currently ranked 20th in NJCAA Division II standings.

The Knights took the lead initially in the first set. They lost it for good after Northeast tied the game 8-8 then went on a six-point run. Emily Johnson slowed the charge briefly with a kill. It wasn’t enough to quell the Hawks’ momentum completely, however, and they forged on, claiming a nine-point lead and eventually closing out the frame 25-15.

North Platte bounced back in the second set, powered early on with kills by Vanessa Wood and Shamia Grandison. The teams tied twice before the Knights went on a five-point run of their own bringing the score to 10-5.

The Hawks slowly inched their way back until they were only a point behind. A scuffle at the net resulted in a replay at the 16-12 mark. North Platte took the lead thereafter and held onto it to the end when Sam Riggles won with a kill, 25-20.

Northeast scored the first couple of points in the third set. North Platte caught up to tie the game 4-4 then remained neck-and-neck with the Hawks until about the halfway mark. Northeast then pushed past the Knights and cruised to a 25-20 win.

North Platte jumped out to a 7-0 run in the fourth set, and the resurgence didn’t stop there. Unable to contain the Knights’ offense, the Hawks fell behind by seven points. A block by Riggles brought the score to 24-15. The Knights were stopped as Northeast staged a comeback, gaining five points in the process. North Platte was finally able to close out the set 25-20.

Wood scored the first point in the fifth set, but the victory was short-lived, and Northeast pulled ahead 4-3. A block by Grandison tied the game, and a subsequent ace on the part of Aubrey Grant put the Knights out in front. Back-to-back kills by Wood and Grandison helped NPCC reach a six-point lead. The Knights ultimately won the set 15-9.

“I’m really pleased with how we played today,” said NPCC Head Volleyball Coach Alexa McCall. “I thought we stayed aggressive and, after our first defense, really stepped up. This was a great win against a good team and just what we needed.”

Wood led the team with 22 kills and 21 digs.&nbsp;Grandison had nine kills and four solo blocks. Elsie Ottun recorded 19 assists, while Grant contributed 17. Altogether, Jaelyn Dicke went for 23 digs.

The win brings North Platte to 6-12 on the season.

They will take to the road for their next game. NPCC plays McCook Community College in McCook at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Knights slay Hawks in hard fought win

The No. 2 Nebraska volleyball team remained unbeaten with a 25-23, 25-20, 25-22 sweep of No. 12 Minnesota on Sunday night in front of 8,591 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.&nbsp;

The Huskers (11-0, 2-0 Big Ten) have won four straight matches against ranked opponents and will face a fifth ranked foe in a row at No. 19 Purdue on Friday night. Nebraska earned its sweep on Sunday behind 13 kills and eight digs by Harper Murray and 11 kills and 10 digs by Merritt Beason.&nbsp;

Ally Batenhorst hit .333 on the night and finished with nine kills, and Andi Jackson posted seven kills and hit .357. Bekka Allick added five kills and three blocks.&nbsp;

Bergen Reilly set the Huskers to a .223 hitting percentage with 39 assists and added eight digs and a team-high four blocks.&nbsp;

The Huskers outkilled the Golden Gophers 47-32 and had a decisive advantage in digs, 52-36. Lexi Rodriguez had a match-high 12. Laney Choboy added eight. Minnesota had nine blocks to seven for the Huskers.&nbsp;

Mckenna Wucherer had 11 kills to pace Minnesota (5-5, 1-1 Big Ten). All five of Minnesota's losses are to teams currently ranked in the top 11 of the AVCA Coaches Poll.&nbsp;

Set 1: The Huskers were behind 8-4 before a 4-0 run to tie it. Reilly had two blocks and Murray had two kills to make it 8-8. The Huskers went up 12-10 after two kills by Allick and one by Beason. Nebraska pushed its lead to five, 18-13, after two aces by Beason and kills by Jackson and Batenhorst. But the Golden Gophers answered with a 9-3 run to claim a 22-21 lead. A service error by Minnesota tied it, and Beason posted a solo stuff before a Murray kill made it 24-22 NU. A service error by the Huskers gave the serve back to Minnesota, but Batenhorst put the set away with her fourth kill that made it 25-23.&nbsp;

Set 2: NU held a 5-2 lead early but Minnesota came back to tie it at 6-6. A kill by Batenhorst started an 8-0 run that put the Huskers up 14-6. Beason and Murray had kills during that stretch. However, Minnesota went on a 5-0 run to cut Nebraska's lead to 16-14 on the strength of three straight blocks. But the Huskers settled down after Murray earned a sideout kill. Beason followed with a kill, and Batenhorst added one between two Minnesota hitting errors, and the Huskers rebuilt their lead to 21-14. Another Batenhorst kill pushed the Huskers' lead to 22-15, but Minnesota chipped away to get within 23-19. After a timeout, Reilly dumped a kill for set point, and a kill by Murray ended the set at 25-20.&nbsp;

Set 3: Nebraska led 8-5 before Minnesota rallied back to go up 10-8. The teams went back and forth and were tied 15-15 before a Nebraska service error and hitting error made it 17-15 Minnesota. The Golden Gophers led 20-18 before back-to-back kills by Beason off of assists from Rodriguez tied the set at 20-20. Murray then served an ace to make it 21-20 Huskers. After a Minnesota timeout, the Golden Gophers won a long rally to tie the score at 21-21 but then committed a hitting error for a 22-21 Husker lead. Reilly then set Jackson for a kill and a 23-21 advantage, and Minnesota used its final timeout. Taylor Landfair terminated for the Golden Gophers out of the break, but Beason won a joust to earn match point at 24-22, and Jackson put the match away with her seventh kill for a 25-22 win.&nbsp;

Huskers fight past No. 12 Golden Gophers,

Nebraska men’s tennis is set to open its fall season in Milwaukee, Wis., at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Play will begin Sept. 22 and go through Sept. 24. Two Huskers are set to compete, sophomore Leo Linquet and junior Calvin Mueller, in both doubles and singles.Linquet will enter the tournament coming off a successful freshman season with the Big Red. Linquet spent the majority of the season in the No. 2 singles spot, where he finished the year with a 7-10 record. In doubles, Linquet posted an 8-7 record and played in the No. 1 doubles spot for the last seven matches going 4-2.Mueller will also be competing in Milwaukee, after his best collegiate season to date. In the 2022-23 season, Mueller had career highs in both singles wins (12) and doubles wins (14).Nebraska has seven returning letterwinners, including Rudi Christiansen, Roni Hietaranta, Lars Johann, Leo Linquet, Shunya Maruyama, Calvin Mueller and Nic Wiedenhorn. Story by NU Athletic Communications&nbsp;Nebraska men’s tennis is set to open its fall season in Milwaukee, Wis., at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Play will begin Sept. 22 and go through Sept. 24. Two Huskers are set to compete, sophomore Leo Linquet and junior Calvin Mueller, in both doubles and singles.Linquet will enter the tournament coming off a successful freshman season with the Big Red. Linquet spent the majority of the season in the No. 2 singles spot, where he finished the year with a 7-10 record. In doubles, Linquet posted an 8-7 record and played in the No. 1 doubles spot for the last seven matches going 4-2.Mueller will also be competing in Milwaukee, after his best collegiate season to date. In the 2022-23 season, Mueller had career highs in both singles wins (12) and doubles wins (14).Nebraska has seven returning letterwinners, including Rudi Christiansen, Roni Hietaranta, Lars Johann, Leo Linquet, Shunya Maruyama, Calvin Mueller and Nic Wiedenhorn. Huskers open season with Milwaukee Tennis Classic

Junior Sarah Weber netted a goal in each half, as the Nebraska soccer team defeated Ohio State 2-1 on Thursday evening.

The Huskers, who improved to 7-1-2 (1-0-1 Big Ten) on the season, held the Buckeyes to just one shot on goal as they fell to 4-3-2 (0-1-1 Big Ten) on the year.

In the first half, Weber sparked the offense with her fifth goal of the season in the 25th minute. Junior Florence Belzile won the battle to keep the possession before passing the ball to forward Abbey Schwarz. The Bennington, Neb., native sent a cross into the 18-yard box which Eleanor Dale jumped over before Weber met the cross and found the back of the net for the score.

The Huskers controlled the first 45 minutes offensively and entered halftime with the 1-0 advantage. NU also led in shots (14-4), shots on goal (3-0) and corner kicks (4-0).

In the 55th minute, Weber had a chance to score but her shot hit the crossbar, and the teams reminded scoreless in the opening minutes of the second half. NU continued to apply the pressure offensively until Ohio State’s Emma Sears scored the equalizer in the 76th minute.

Then in the 78th minute, Weber responded with the game winner to tally her second brace of the season and 22nd career goal. Schwarz recorded her second assist of the game as she dribbled downfield and passed the ball to Belzile who sent a cross just outside the goalbox which Weber met and scored.

OSU was unable to score again as NU tallied its first conference win of the season. Overall, the Huskers held the advantage in shots (29-13), shots on goal (7-1) and corners (11-2).

In the goal, senior Sami Hauk played the entire game and earned her 18th career win. Hauk was joined by defenders Nicola Hauk and Lauryn Anglim, and forward Dale who also played 90 minutes. Additionally, senior Gwen Lane, a starter for all 20 games last season, saw her first action of the season as she played 25 minutes.

The Big Red returns to action at 12 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, Sept. 24 in University Park, Pa., against Penn State. Action will be streamed on B1G+.

Weber nets two in NU’s victory over OSU

Story by NU Athletic Communications&nbsp; A former Husker basketball player will make his debut for Team USA, as Trey McGowens has been selected to play in the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup next week.

The event, which takes place in&nbsp;Lublin, Poland, from Sept. 27-Oct. 1, marks the first time the USA has played in the&nbsp;FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup&nbsp;since 2019. McGowens is one of four NBA G League players to represent the USA in the event.&nbsp; This will be McGowens’ first appearance in USA Basketball and his 3x3 debut.

Pool play takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 27 and Friday, Sept. 29.&nbsp;&nbsp;The 2023 3x3 U23 World Cup will stream live on YouTube at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/fiba3x3" target="_blank">www.youtube.com/fiba3x3</a>.&nbsp; Joining McGowens on the four-member USA team includes Matthew Hurt, Jalen Lecque and Bryce Wills.

McGowens, who was with the New Jersey Nets Summer League roster, spent the 2022-23 season with the Long Island Nets in the G League, appearing in 23 games as a rookie.&nbsp;

At Nebraska, McGowens was a two-year starter for the Huskers (2020-22). He averaged 9.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game at NU while he was often assigned to the opponent’s top perimeter scoring threat.

His best season at NU was in 2020-21 when he averaged 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He finished fifth in the Big Ten Conference in steals per game and ranked second on the squad in both scoring and assists in 2020-21. McGowens played in just 15 games in 2021-22 after suffering a broken foot early in the season. As a collegian, he totaled nearly 1,200 points, 200 steals and 400 rebounds including his two seasons at Pittsburgh (2018-20).

He is the third Husker to represent his country in 3x3 in international play, joining Tai Webster (New Zealand) and Keisei Tominaga (Japan), as Tominaga played in the Tokyo Olympics in the event.

Trey McGowens named to USA 3x3 U23 World Cup Team

On a night where Nebraska's pitchers impressed, it was a three-run blast from Emmerson Cope that powered the Scarlet team to a 4-0 win over the Cream team Thursday in the second of three fall scrimmages for the Husker softball team.

Cope not only drove in three of the game's four runs, she also contributed to the strong night for Nebraska's pitching staff. Cope finished 1-for-3 at the plate and tossed three scoreless innings in the circle to close out the game. She struck out two and did not walk a batter while scattering three hits, needing only 32 pitchers to get through her 3.0 innings.

Nebraska’s starting pitchers were effective and efficient. Sarah Harness was credited with the win, earning the start and pitching 4.0 perfect innings for the Scarlet with one strikeout. Jordy Bahl started for the Cream and allowed only one hit with five strikeouts in 4.0 innings, and each of the three runs she allowed were unearned. Combined, Harness and Bahl pitched 8.0 innings and allowed just one hit. Neither pitcher went to a three-ball count and Bahl threw just 43 pitches (33 strikes), while Harness needed only 45 pitches (31 strikes).

Offensively, freshmen had all four RBIs in the game. In addition to Cope's three RBIs, Samantha Bland drove in the fourth and final run for the Scarlet, which out-hit the Cream, 4-3.

The Scarlet team took advantage of a pair of Husker errors to grab a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The first three balls were all put in play – all ground balls to an infielder – but a pair of misplays put runners on first and third for Cope, who blasted the first pitch she saw well over the fence in left for a three-run homer.

The Cream team nearly found the scoreboard in the top of the fifth. Smetter led off with a single and a one-out single from Mckinley Malecha put runners at first and third with one out. But Cope – in her first inning in the circle – escaped the jam by coaxing a pair of ground outs.

The Scarlet then added to their lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Assistant coach Olivia Ferrell came on in the circle and walked a pair of batters ahead of Bland, who delivered an RBI single that scored Ava Bredwell and made it a 4-0 final.

Nebraska will host its final intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m.

The 10th-ranked Nebraska Kearney volleyball team out hit 21st-ranked Central Oklahoma by 104 points and got big contributions from several players to win in four sets (<a href="https://lopers.com/sports/womens-volleyball/stats/2023/central-oklahoma/boxscore/7511" target="_blank">-16, 20-25, -23, -20</a>) Thursday night at the Health &amp; Sports Center.UNK moves to 12-1 (2-1) while UCO falls to 11-2 (2-1). The two teams will meet again October 20 in Edmond.Returning All-Americans&nbsp;Jaden Ferguson&nbsp;(Lincoln SW) and&nbsp;Emersen Cyza&nbsp;(Alliance) had 15 kills apiece with Cyza hitting .405 and Ferguson also providing 16 digs, six blocks (four solo) and three aces. Next, young middles&nbsp;Mia Berg&nbsp;(Eureka, Mo.) and&nbsp;Trista Marx&nbsp;(Limon, Colo.) combined for 17 kills, three block assists and only one error in 34 swings."We talked a little bit about that coming into this match. We were going to need a contribution from everybody … we could not just go pin-to-pin, ride our outsides and Jaden (right side). It was important we got our middles going," said UNK head coach&nbsp;Rick Squiers. "They both played well, hit efficiently and got some quality block touches."&nbsp;

OGALLALA, NEB. - Our week 5 Sandhills Area Game of the Week takes us to Alliance as this weeks matchup features the 2-2 Ogallala Indians taking on the 2-2 Alliance Bulldogs. Ogallala is heading into this contest riding a 2 game winning streak after they defeated Cozad in Week 3 28-26 than last week winning at home against Gering 38-28 last Friday.

Last week, Ogallala rushed for 294 yards and leading the way was the senior Caden Rezac. Rezac had 13 carries for 178 yards and 4 touchdowns. Air Force commit Harry Caskey had carried the rock 15 times for 95 yards and 1 touchdown. The Indians, who switched to a heavy rush offense has ran for 967 yards through 4 weeks, averaging 242 rushing yards a game. Caskey and Rezac both have a team high 418 rushing yards.

Alliance is led by first year head coach TD Stein, the former Chadron High Standout and two-time all state honorable mention. Stein would snap Alliance's 23 game losing streak in their week 2 matchup against Gordon-Rushville, where the Bulldogs won 24-20. Alliance would win the following week against Valentine before falling to Gothenburg last week 46-12.

The Tri-City Storm is set for the team’s final game of the 2023 DICK’S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic tonight in a matchup against the Sioux Falls Stampede. The Storm opened the event with a 2-1 victory Wednesday night over the defending Clark Cup Champion Youngstown Phantoms.

Tri-City (1-0-0-0) recorded scoring plays from first-time goal scorers Nolan Roed and Dallas Vieau during yesterday’s season-opening victory. Nick Peluso and Trevor Connelly each notched an assist on Roed’s opening goal of the USHL season at 15:59 of the 1st&nbsp;period, and Ryan Smith and Trevor Connelly each recorded an assist on Dallas Vieau’s goal at 8:41 of the 2nd&nbsp;period. Cameron Korpi shined in net for the Storm, stopping 23 of Youngstown’s 24 shots on goal. He turned away a critical penalty shot attempt by Youngstown’s Charlie Cerrato during the 3rd&nbsp;period. The Storm opened the season 0/7 on the powerplay, and Tri-City’s penalty kill finished last night’s game 4/4. Tri-City outshot Youngstown 12-2 in the 1st&nbsp;period, 8-7 in the 2nd&nbsp;period, and was outshot by a 15-11 margin during the 3rd&nbsp;period. Caleb Heil turned away 18 of Cedar Rapids’ 20 shots on goal to record the win in net for Sioux Falls. Heil posted a 5-2-1-0 record in goal for the Stampede during the 2022-2023 regular season. Sioux Fall’s powerplay finished the game 0/5 last night, and the team’s penalty kill was 4/4. The Stampede completed the 2022-2023 regular season with a final record of 23-31-5-3. North Platte Community College men's golf team returned to the links for the Pinnacle Bank Raider Invitational on Tuesday. The Knights finished eighth amongst eleven teams at the Elks Country Club in Columbus.

David Winkelmann&nbsp;improved upon his best collegiate round, shooting a 79 on the day.&nbsp;Jayden Jones&nbsp;shot eight over through 18 holes, while&nbsp;Cole Kramer&nbsp;rounded out the top three for North Platte with a round of 83.

Taytom Timbers,&nbsp;Caeson Clarke&nbsp;and&nbsp;Treyten York&nbsp;concluded the 18-hole tournament by finishing in the top 50 amongst collegiate players.

Knights will return to the links in Council Bluffs, Iowa for the two-day Bent Tree Classic beginning on Sept. 25.

Hamish Murray earned the first top-10 finish of his Husker career by tying for ninth individually at 211 (-2) to lead the Nebraska men's golf team at the Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday.

Murray, a junior transfer from Sydney, Australia by way of NCAA Division II Cameron (Okla.) University, closed his first tournament for the Big Red with a final-round 73 (+2) on the par-71, 7,279-yard layout at the Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati. Murray's score over the final 18 holes followed back-to-back rounds of 69 (-2) on Monday for the Huskers.

Harry Crockett, a junior from Oxted, England, carded Nebraska's best round on Tuesday with a 72 (+1) to tie for 30th at 216 (+3) in the 90-player field in Cincinnati.

Senior Reed Malleck (York, Neb.) tied for 40th at 218 (+5), while fellow senior Gentry Scheve matched Malleck's final-round 75 on Tuesday to complete Nebraska's team score. Scheve (Emporia, Kan.) finished 71st at 224 (+11), while fifth-year senior Will Marshall tied for 67th at 223 (+10), including a final-round 76.

Nebraska slipped to 11th in the tight team standings at 865 (+13) with a final-round 295. The Huskers finished just two shots back of Virginia Tech and Little Rock (863) in a tie for eighth and one stroke behind Southern Miss (864) in 10th.&nbsp;

Chattanooga produced Tuesday's best team round with a 279 (-5) to pull away for the team championship with a three-round score of 838 (-14). The Mocs defeated Louisville by eight strokes (846), while BYU finished third at 849 (-3). The hosts from Cincinnati took fourth at 852 (E).

Louisville's Sebastian Moss claimed medalist honors with a three-round total of 201 (-12) that included a sizzling final-round 65 (-6). Cincinnati's Connor McNeely took second at 205 (-8), while Chattanooga's Paul Conroy finished third at 206 (-7).

University, closed his first tournament for the Big Red with a final-round 73 (+2) on the par-71, 7,279-yard layout at the Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati. The Storm will battle the defending Clark Cup Champion Youngstown Phantoms on FedEx Rink #1 at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. The Storm will also play Western Conference foe Sioux Falls Stampede tomorrow night at 7:30pm CT in the team’s second, and final, game of the event. Puck drop for tonight’s battle between the Storm and the Phantoms is scheduled for 6:30pm CT.

Hamish Murray played outstanding golf to open his Husker career, ending the first 36 holes of the Bearcat Invitational in a tie for third individually after back-to-back rounds of 69 (-2) in Cincinnati on Monday.

Murray, a junior transfer from Sydney, Australia, closed the day at 138 (-4) on the par-71, 7,279-yard layout of the Coldstream Country Club. His opening round included five birdies against three bogeys, before his second round featured three birdies, 14 pars and just one bogey.

The NCAA Division II transfer from Cameron University in Oklahoma helped Nebraska rally from a slow start to climb to sixth in the 17-team field through two rounds. The Huskers ended the day 570 (+2) after rounds of 286 and 284.

In addition to the impressive play from Murray, Nebraska got a solid performance from Reed Malleck. The senior from York, Neb., closed the day at 143 (+1), including a second-round 69 (-2) to match Murray for NU's best round of the day.

Junior Harry Crockett (Oxted, England) added strong rounds of 71 and 73 to head to Tuesday's final round in a tie for 34th in the 90-player field at 144 (+2).
